If you think you are in control of your life you may not read what I have to say. It may help you to prepare for the inevitable.
Have you ever visited a retirement home? A lot of those people are mean and bitter. If you’re young you just brush that off. “Grumpy old men.”
I’m beginning to realize why they may be that way. They were young once. They may have thought they decided their future. They now know they were wrong.
The longer you walk this earth you will find you are not in charge of what goes on around you. You can only hope for the best.
You get your education. Try to decide the best time to start a family. You finally get a job you enjoy.
These are all decisions you make. You think you are in control because you made these choices.
All it takes is one thing to go wrong before everything unravels.
You may lose your job. You’re position no longer needed. Nobody is hiring in that field anymore. You are now obsolete.
Your child may die. After which your spouse can no longer bear to be with you. No fault of your own.
Call it fate or faith. These things happen and they will. Sooner or later.
So go ahead and prepare. Make those decisions. But when something happens that you did not anticipate. Know that you were never in charge. It wasn’t anything you did that caused it.
If you keep that in mind you just may be able to pick up those pieces a little quicker.
